There are multiple suggestions for detoxing after indulging in the overabundance of food and drink that many people experience during the Thanksgiving holidays. Warm water plus lemon, drinking green juice, using a body brush, yoga, and meditation are a few. While all of these may be great idea for a post holiday detox, I just want to make you aware that if you or a loved one needs help detoxing off opioids, The Coleman Institute is available 365 days a year to help you.
Because our Accelerated Opioid Detox does not require in-patient hospitalization, we are able to accommodate patients for brief clinic appointments through the holidays. This flexibility has allowed may people the ability to go through a rapid opioid detox, missing minimal time at work. You are still with your chosen loved ones during the holiday in a relaxed and laid back atmosphere.
We use medications to keep our patients comfortable during the opioid withdrawal process, when we are removing the opiates from the body. Most patients find that they sleep through a great deal of the process, and the periods of discomfort are very manageable with the medications entrusted to their support person. While we do not complete the detox over the holiday weekend, we meet with our patients each day—including Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, Ramadan, Rosh Hashanah, etc. leading up to the final day.
This outpatient medical detox process allows many patients to complete their detoxification on the Monday following the holiday weekend. They leave the Coleman Institute with a long-acting naltrexone implant, providing about eight weeks of pure opioid blockage.
If you have any questions about our Accelerated Opiate Detox process, about holiday scheduling, or suggestions about where to stay (or eat!), please give us a call at 888.735.7702. Consider the amazing freedom you will feel when the next holiday rolls around and you are able to enjoy it!
