Naltrexone Therapy
The Coleman Institute provides Naltrexone Therapy options in Austin, TX
Addiction is a complex brain disease and detoxing is just the beginning of recovery. From our experience, ongoing treatment and support are the keys to breaking free from dependency. By providing Naltrexone Therapy in our Austin, TX location, we are able to offer our patients the best chance possible at getting free from addiction.
Naltrexone blocks the opiate receptors in the brain, preventing the excruciating cravings that are usually present in an addiction detox. Without the intense cravings, our patients are able to look beyond their physical symptoms and focus instead on the psychological aspects of staying clean.
This non-addictive medication is a crucial part of the Coleman Institute process. We offer two specially formulated Naltrexone options for our patients.
- Naltrexone Implant: We place a small, painless Naltrexone implant under the patient’s skin, where it slowly releases a dose for 2 months.
- Vivitrol®: Vivitrol® is an FDA-approved, branded version of injectable Naltrexone.
Although patients can take Naltrexone orally, we’ve found that many people either forget or choose not to take it — making them more likely to relapse. Our slow-release options give patients weeks of support at a time. To ensure the best chance for lifelong recovery, we recommend that most patients continue with their Naltrexone Therapy for a year after completing detox. Doing so gives them the time and space to focus exclusively on healing while they start living again without the burden of addiction.
