The drug Naloxone is a medication used to block the effects of an opioid overdose; it is now much easier to get Naloxone, which can bring a person back from the brink of death and save their life. Every day, 76 people die of opiate overdoses in the U.S. In 2014, more people in the state of Virginia died of an opiate overdose than a car crash. This is why it is so critical that Naloxone be available to friends and loved ones that may be near a person as they overdose on heroin or other opioid substances.
