What To Expect From Our Roxicodone Detox Program In Richmond, VA

Getting Started:

During this initial call, your Care Advocate will answer any questions you may have about the Coleman Institute’s approach to Roxicodone detox, and they will also help you decide when you want to start treatment. Treatment can typically be scheduled within 1 week of this call – there is no waiting list.

Before Your Appointment:

We will ask you to stop using your Roxicodone 16 to 48 hours before your first scheduled appointment, based on guidance from our physicians. We will also ask you to arrange to have a support person present with you for the duration of your detox and for 48 hours after detox is completed. While you are detoxing, you should not drive a motor vehicle and you should be monitored at all times to ensure that you are safe and comfortable.

Your 1st Appointment:

When you arrive at your first appointment, you will be in mild withdrawal from stopping the use of Roxicodone 16 to 48 hours prior to this appointment. One of our licensed, experienced practitioners will assess your condition and give you tailored doses of comfort medications to alleviate any uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms you may be experiencing. You will also be given micro-dose Naltrexone.

Intermediate Appointments:

The intermediate days of the Roxicodone detox program are very similar to the initial appointment. Your practitioner will continue to give you tailored doses of comfort medications according to your individual needs, and they will continue to give you micro-dose Naltrexone.

Final Appointment:

By the time of your final appointment, you will have made significant progress toward detoxing from Roxicodone. On this last day, you will rest comfortably in a private room in our Richmond, VA detox center while the remaining opioids are gently removed from your brain, a process that can typically take around 6 to 8 hours. During this time, you will be monitored closely by our practitioners to ensure that you are safe and that detox is going as it should. After this final appointment, detox is complete. To support your recovery in the coming weeks, you will be given long-acting Naltrexone in the form of either an injection or an implant. Why The Coleman Institute’s Roxicodone Detox Program – The Fast And Comfortable Option

Roxicodone is a very potent prescription opioid, and most people who attempt to stop using it on their own experience severe withdrawal symptoms that cause them to quickly realize that they will most likely need professional help to quit. Here are a some of the more common options for medical detoxification available in the Richmond, VA area:

Self-Detox:

Because it is such a potent opioid, trying to stop Roxicodone can be especially uncomfortable and dangerous. Trying to stop Roxicodone suddenly by “going cold turkey” with no medical supervision can result in severe physical and mental discomfort, and could even be life-threatening. The length of an inpatient rehab stay can vary depending on the status of the patient, but it can go on for as long as 30 days or more. Such a long stay in an inpatient program can be extremely disruptive to daily life and can also be very expensive.

Ultra Rapid Opioid Detoxification (URD or UROD):

In this inpatient detox method, a hospitalized patient is put under general anesthesia and given opioid antagonists like Naltrexone intravenously. This method can fully flush the opioids out of a patient’s system in as little as five minutes, but it is very expensive and can have serious health risks. There have been some reported fatalities following this treatment. Because of the potential risks, our clinic has not performed an Ultra Rapid Detox since 2001.

Methadone or Buprenorphine:

Methadone and Buprenorphine have been useful medications for helping people suffering from Roxicodone addiction. When administered by an addiction specialist, they can help transition a patient away from a more dangerous opioid like Roxicodone and onto a relatively safer, legal (when prescribed) alternative. But Methadone and Buprenorphine are still opioids. Patients will still have to detox from them if and when they decide to stop using opioids altogether, and stopping their use can still cause withdrawal symptoms. Most of our patients who have tried Methadone or Buprenorphine treatment have told us that it can be harder to detox from them than it is to detox from other opioids.
