Detoxification Information

How to Get Started

The Coleman Institute makes every effort to ensure a safe and comfortable detox. Our physicians have over 20 years experience making sure detoxification is safe, comfortable, and successful. The programs we have developed at The Coleman Institute feature specific steps for treatment depending on the type of addiction and its severity. For every patient, our process involves the following:

Initial Screening

A confidential interview is conducted when a patient calls our office to schedule a detox. Program details, program requirements, and fees are discussed. On-going treatment is also discussed with the patient. Patients will then speak with the physician to obtain a history by telephone in order to make sure they are eligible for the detoxification and to receive instructions on how to prepare for the pre-op exam. After the preliminary assessment has taken place, the patient is scheduled for detoxification.

Information regarding financing and hotel information will be given upon request.

Support Person

The patient must be accompanied by a drug-free, responsible, adult support person during his/her appointments and throughout the detox procedure. We ask that arrangements be made for the support person to stay with the patient for at least 48 hours (two days) after returning home. The role of the support person is to assist in transportation to and from the procedure, to accompany the patient during his/her office visits and, most importantly, to assist the patient with moral support and help with administration of medications.
